After Léon I walked to Villa de Mazarife going through La Virgen del Camino on the way. Not worth stopping as a very tired, scruffy suburb of Léon. Just after this point the scenery changed again to become quite like the New Forest. Some nice little pueblos (villages) again and an old chap moving his cows from one field to another. Another pair of abandoned boots.
I stopped for an ice cold coke as it is up in the high thirties again and was given some tapas free as it was a quiet time. That is all I have had to eat today as you don't eat until 7:30 or 8:00 pm and the shops are all shut most of the time (when you are hungry!)
Am staying at a quiet little albergue with about 50 bunk beds in one room but there are only about 15 of us here at the moment so not too bad. I am meeting more people now as I am travelling faster than most and waking with new groups.
How`s the new wardrobe settling in? and how much is a beer?
ReplyDeleteHi Simon, as I got to Leon early all the shops had not yet opened. They all open late, shut for siesta or are closed on festival days Sundays and Mondays.
DeleteThe beer is usually very cheap 1.50 euros for a cerveza grande. It is nearly double in the large towns. The wine is free with your meal, if you want more tha one bottle you just ask for more vino!
Hope you and Ness are well

Hi Ian, feeling a little guilty as not read the blog since day 3 - however this morning gave me the chance to read from day 3 to yesterday and what a lovely way to start my day !
ReplyDeleteYour blog is amazing, surely you need to write a book when you get home, your talents are wasted. I'm a bit concerned about the lost hat though - please dont leave us hanging - hopefully you managed to buy a replacement.Good news about your feet and you sure sound in good spirit.
Please keep reminding Wend about the bins and there's nothing wrong with crocs.
Looking forward to next chapter, take care love Sally xxxxxx
Thanks for the comment Sally. I think I could do this full time, I may need a sponsor though.
DeleteI haven't bothered with a replacement hat, can't really get on with them.

A cold coke, a morsel crust of bread, and what looks like one giant prune (?), (oh yes I forget the milky way)....I definately wouldn't survive the day!
ReplyDeleteGood wanderings,
Denv Ralph
That giant prune was my little spicy sausage!
ReplyDeleteIt's not much but it kept me going for the day (there were three but I ate two of them before the photo)
